Web radio and audio streaming have become more and more popular nowadays. A lot of people prefer to listen to an online radio station rather than using their old radio device. That's because it's much more convenient, the quality is much higher and the radio station can be listened anytime and anywhere if there is an available Internet connection. But besides listening, it would be great if one could record from a radio stream, for example a show or a news bulletin. A program that can do that is HiRecorder.

HiRecorder is very easy to install and it supports most versions of Microsoft Windows. Besides that, it takes up very little hard disk space and it's gentle with the system resources.

The interface has a graphical aspect and it features some intuitive controls. Basically, the user just needs to run the stream and push the recording button and that's pretty much. He can also configure some settings regarding the recording process, like the audio source, the quality of the recording and the audio file format. Besides recording audio streams, HiRecorder can also record sound coming from the line-in or the microphone, thus being able to record old LPs.

HiRecorder features a scheduler, for programming the time a recording starts, for not missing a certain show, for example. Moreover, a maximum duration or file size can be set, after what the recording will stop. This feature is ideal for computer systems with smaller hard disks. The program features a small audio player that includes a playlist with all the recorded files, allowing the user to play each one of them directly in the program.

Pros

It can record sound from various sources, like the system mixer, line-in or microphone. Besides that, it can be configured to start recording at a certain moment in time. The quality of the audio file can be configured, as well as the maximum duration and the maximum file size.

Cons

The interface seems too simple, as well as the program's functions. Besides that, the audio formats it supports are only MP3 and WAV. HiRecorder is the only program you will ever need for recording sound from any source.
